In 1986 Masten Custom Picture Framing opened its doors. This quaint Denver frame shop grew quickly and soon included an art gallery, antiques and eventually gifts. Masten Framing and Gifts has been featured in many publications and online for it’s beautiful hand-crafted picturing framing and unique curated collection of gifts and home accents.
While on a wholesale buying trip to Atlanta more than 15 years ago, we stumbled upon the December Diamonds showroom. It was full of enchanting Christmas ornaments and decorations but what caught our eye was something we had never seen before, Mermen ornaments! They were whimsical, fun, highly detailed, sexy, and original.
Not knowing how our customers would respond, we placed a small order for our store. Our order arrived in late summer, and within a month had sold out. We placed another larger order, and they also flew out the door. So we took a chance and placed another even larger order. By the time Christmas was past, We were reordering more! We even started this website so that Denver travelers who fell in love with our mermen collection could easily order them after they returned home.
Five years ago, after 32 years at the same urban location, we lost our lease and moved our store to a Denver suburb. Our new suburban customers loved our framing but were less enchanted by the Mermen, so we made the decision to sell them exclusively from our website: www.MermanBeach.com
Although we no longer have them on display in our store, we continue to love and personally collect all the December Diamonds Mermen Ornaments. We now have two large Christmas we fill each with our own growing collection, and are thinking of adding a third!
